A fan’s take on the book written by the folks at The Colbert Report.
So, being a fan, a die hard one, of course, of The Colbert Report, I had high expectations from this book named I Am America (And So Can You!), written by Stephen Colbert and the other people on the writing team of the show.
This book is often touted as an extension of The Colbert Report, going deep and highlighting thoughts and actions of the poorly informed idiot, the fictional character, Stephen Colbert who tackles various issues that need urgent attention and concern the country.
There is a very obvious inspirations the book has used from the literary works of the shows and people who are parodied on the show. For example, Bill O’Reilly’s book, The O’Reilly Factor (2000), then the 2004 Sean Hannity’s book, Deliver Us From Evil. Colbert later has claimed to have coerced himself to read these books for his future references.
There are red margin notes which come across every where on the book, and it is an exciting feature as it imparts humorous takes and contradictions on Colbert’s sayings in some what Report’s Word Style format.

Another exciting feature is the sticker on the cover which shows up a burning book and reads, I Am America, and says “The Stephen T. Colbert Award for the Literary Excellence.” For the readers, a dozen stickers are given inside, to pass on and nominate people for the award. There is also a set of sticker which reads phrases like , “It’s Morning In Colbert-ica”, “Hell Yeah!” and “Nailed It!”. These can be used by the readers for book marking purposes, wherever they liked any thing in the book.
Colbert has widely publicized the book, even trying it as an instrument to advance his political careers.
A great read, especially for the fans.
I will be waiting eagerly to read your comments and opinions.
Take care people, I will be back soon with more updates.
Bye.
